Who am I?
I'm a Mechanical Engineering (MEng) student at Imperial College London, currently in my placement year working in the Product Engineering department as a Cooling Mechatronics undergraduate at JLR.
I've spent two years as a volunteer Academic Mentor for the Imperial College Mechanical Engineering Society, which pushed me to start tutoring A-Level students directly. I am new to tutoring as a paid service which I try to reflect in my pricing. I am continually looking develop the way in which I teach and deliver content but I am confident my teaching is backed by my strong understanding of the academic content.
What do I offer?
I offer online tutoring sessions for A-level Mathematics and A-level Physics. For students applying to Imperial College London Mechanical Engineering, I also offer focused sessions to prepare you for a smooth entrance exam and interview.
The teaching style I prefer is to focus on exam questions and exam technique. I feel this is the most impactful way to make progress though I appreciate that everyone learns differently and I strive to adapt the way I teach to each student's individual needs. Upon booking, a google calendar invite link is sent to your email.
Why do I tutor?
I didn't have a tutor myself and A-Levels were a real challenge at first. GCSEs didn't require any effort for me personally but for A-levels it wasn't until I developed effective and efficient learning strategies that things clicked. It is vital to know how to utilise the resources available to you and how to break sticking points without spending too much time. Using regular tutoring as an experienced outside perspective can be the best way to keep your progress on track.
The experience of being stuck and then the problem clicking is exactly what drives me to be the support to help other students. No matter the grade you are aiming for I find it immensely satisfying being able to help people achieve their goals.
My academic credentials:
Mechanical Engineering (MEng), Imperial College London - First Class (In Progress)
A-Levels: Physics A*, Mathematics A*, Geography A
GCSEs: 5 x Grade 9, 4 x Grade 8/7, 1 x Dist**
(Certification can be provided upon request in the free 15 minute intro call which can be booked further down the page)
Extra information:
I am enhanced DBS verified, ensuring a safe environment for all students, including under 18s.
My ultimate goal is to grow Forge Tutoring into a full platform where students have access to multiple tutors with fully transparent rates. Many of my peers at university use tutoring platforms that can take as much as 50% commission. I want to see a service that provides high quality and rigorously vetted tutors that I can stand behind. That means platform fees no higher than 5%.
Expect to see more tutors available one day!
I recommend all of my students make a LinkedIn profile. The puzzle games are engaging and you need to start early to build those 500+ connections. It may seem a bit pointless to some people to start now but it will become a very valuable networking tool at university and especially when you start your career.
I don't post often but to see some of my past projects at work and university, click on the LinkedIn icon at the top right or just here:
